ZERO
360: MAXIMUM MOTORSPORTS FIRE PROTECTION
NEW Lifeline Fire
Supression Systems for Drag Race and Stock Car Applications
Are SFI 17.1 Approved and Feature Cutting-Edge NOVEC 1230
Technology

Santa Fe Springs, Calif. (May 28, 2009)
– Some racers turn left, others do battle a quarter mile at
a time. No matter what type of racecar you campaign, the
only thing more important than winning is ensuring the
protection of your driver. Now Lifeline Fire & Safety
Systems is proud to announce the Zero 360, a revolutionary
new SFI 17.1 approved fire suppression system for drag
racing and circle track applications.
|
Already in use on some of the fastest cars in FIA
competition, the SFI-approved Lifeline Zero 360
systems are the result of over 5 years of intensive
research and development. Zero 360 offers several key
benefits over standard systems, including complete fire
safety coverage with two nozzles and advanced new
Compression Discharge (CD) technology that ensures only pure
undiluted extinguishing agent is deployed.
The systems use 3M Novec 1230, an environmentally friendly,
high molecular weight material that gasifies immediately
after being discharged in a flooding system, resulting in
total fire suppression quickly with minimal mess.

Unlike traditional dip tube discharge systems, Zero 360
systems will operate at any angle. The Novec 1230 compound
is contained in an internal bladder that is isolated from
the propelling gas (nitrogen). Upon activation, the nitrogen
compresses the bladder and the extinguishing gas is
discharged in a constant flow. This ensures that pure Novec
1230 is discharged through the nozzles and not contaminated
by the propellant, thus making fire suppression quicker and
putting out the fire faster.
The SFI approved
systems are available in 5lbs and 10lbs with
mechanical pull cable or automatic activation. Both sizes
discharge through 2 nozzles strategically positioned
according to the identified risk areas. The mechanical
systems employ up to 2 pull cables and the total discharge
valve locks into the open position upon activation. The
automatic version – which uses Lifeline Zero Zone technology
– has a multi-directional automatic discharge valve for fuel
cell coverage. When a sudden rise
in temperature is detected, the Zero Zone valve opens,
delivering the agent through two specially designed nozzles.
All parts are CAD designed and CNC machined for optimum
performance and every component is designed for simple
installation.
For nearly 30 years, Lifeline has been developing
cutting-edge fire safety systems for some of the top teams
in motorsport competition, and its parts currently protect
the majority of world championship winning racecars.
