2008 AMA TOYOTA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY FMF
SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (October 12, 2007) – AMA Racing announced today the schedule for
the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF. Several significant changes to
the schedule have been made for 2008, all in the interest of improvement.
According to Doug Neubauer, AMA Vice President of Racing, the 2008 schedule was a
collaborative effort created with the input of riders, race teams and the National Promoters Group
(NPG). “We set out to accomplish several objectives when producing the schedule for next season,”
said Neubauer. “Included among those things was a tighter, more compact season, additional time
off for the riders and teams between the end of the AMA Supercross Series and the beginning of
AMA Motocross, and an improved flow as the series travels around the nation.”
Additionally, the season will now kick-off in Southern California on Memorial Day weekend and
end on the east coast on Labor Day weekend, both dates recognized as the traditional beginning and
end of the summer holiday season, respectively.
The Hangtown Motocross Classic from Sacramento, CA has also been moved to avoid conflict
with the AMA Superbike Championship event held at nearby Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA.
According to AMA Racing, this change was the result of fan input.
