MORGANTOWN, W.Va.
(July 17, 2025) – MX
Sports Pro Racing, Inc.,
has announced the
continuation of its
partnership with
Idaho-based Western
Power Sports (WPS) and
FLY Racing in support of
the Pro Motocross
Championship, sanctioned
by AMA Pro Racing, the
summer component of the
SuperMotocross (SMX)
World Championship
regular season. The
industry leading
distributor of
powersports products and
gear manufacturer’s
support of the
prestigious championship
is highlighted by FLY
Racing’s title
sponsorship of the
legendary Washougal
National on July 19,
which has been a summer
tradition in the Pacific
Northwest since 1980
from Washington’s famed
Washougal MX Park.
Enhancing the excitement
surrounding the FLY
Racing Washougal
National is the second
running of the Military
Appreciation Race in
support of America’s
service men and women.
Additionally, the eighth
race of the 2025 Pro
Motocross Championship
and Round 25 of the SMX
World Championship will
feature live network
coverage on NBC
Broadcast Network, with
a two-hour showcase of
the first motos of both
the 450 Class and 250
Class.
“For more than 50 years,
the Pro Motocross
Championship has
provided the toughest
test in motorsports with
11 rounds of grueling
competition on the
toughest and most
renowned racetracks in
the world. That prestige
has made the
championship a focal
point of racers around
the world, with an
immensely talented field
of international
athletes battling out
for the most coveted
title in the sport,”
said Anthony Armsby, VP
of Marketing and
E-Commerce, Western
Power Sports. “As a
Pacific Northwest
company, we are not only
excited to provide title
support of the Washougal
National, but we’re also
honored to play an
integral role in the
Military Appreciation
Race. We are avid
supporters of our
service men and women
and look forward to
celebrating their
selflessness in the
defense and protection
of our country this
weekend.”

Founded in 1960, Western
Power Sports has built
an immense global
network comprised of
more than 14,000 dealers
for its product line of
over 150,000 motorcycle,
ATV/UTV, snowmobile, and
watercraft parts,
garments, and
accessories. Its dynamic
collection of house
brands is spearheaded by
FLY Racing, but also
includes Fire Power,
GMAX Helmets, HardDrive,
Highway 21, Open Trail,
Rale Industries, Sedona
Tire & Wheel, Shinko
Tires, and SP1 Products,
all of which can
collectively service any
need for a powersports
consumer and enthusiast.
FLY Racing’s ascension
into becoming a leader
in motocross gear was
built on a foundation in
support of beloved
racers like Andrew Short
and Trey Canard, who put
the spotlight on the
growing brand throughout
the 2000’s and 2010’s as
perennial frontrunners
in the 450 Class. The
brand’s presence
continued to grow with
the likes of Zach
Osborne, who won both a
250 Class and 450 Class
title while wearing FLY,
and is now more
prominent than ever
thanks to team
partnerships with Quad
Lock Honda, Rockstar
Energy GASGAS Factory
Racing, and Toyota
Redlands BarX Yamaha,
along with a
star-studded lineup of
athletes like R.J.
Hampshire, Chance Hymas,
and FLY’s newest racer,
Cooper Webb, who
captured the 2025
Monster Energy AMA
Supercross Championship
in his first season
wearing the brand.
“It’s hard not to take
notice of FLY Racing’s
evolution from a
fledgling brand into an
industry powerhouse.
They’re driven by
passion and have
remained steadfast in
their commitment to
developing premium
riding gear, with
top-of-the-line helmets,
jerseys, and pants,”
said Davey Coombs,
President, MX Sports Pro
Racing. “It’s been a
privilege to have both
FLY and Western Power
Sports as partners of
the Pro Motocross
Championship, and we
can’t think of a more
perfect union than two
highly regarded Pacific
Northwest entities in
Washougal MX Park and
WPS coming together in
support of our military
veterans and active-duty
service men and women.”

The FLY Racing Washougal
National Military
Appreciation Race will
see an array of military
and patriotic themed
livery on both
motorcycles and athletes
alike, embracing a cause
that has been a fixture
within the motocross
world thanks to
organizations like the
Veteran MX Foundation,
which has partnered with
Washougal MX Park for
the event. A special
veteran lap will see a
group of enthusiast
service members take to
the track and parade in
front of the tens of
thousands of spectators
that will line the
fences at Washougal MX
Park, while a helicopter
flyover will help kick
off festivities during
opening ceremonies.
Additionally, two
members of the Veteran
MX Foundation will be
honored as Moto Heroes.
As part of the
partnership with the
Veteran MX Foundation, a
bucket-list trip to the
FLY Racing Washougal
National will be
fulfilled for Army
veteran Mike Matula.
Matula gave up a trade
career to join the
military at the age of
27 and served seven
years as an infantry
team leader. Upon his
completion of service,
Matula rekindled his
love for motocross by
happenstance and has
become an active member
of the Veteran MX
Foundation, taking
advantage of the support
provided by fellow
veterans while also
taking the program’s
lead to offer his
support to those in
need.
Just four races remain
in the Pro Motocross
Championship and SMX
World Championship
regular season. A
two-week break in action
awaits the stars of the
sport after Washougal,
which will give way to a
three-race stretch run
to crown a pair of
champions in the 450
Class and 250 Class.
