Doug Murphrey Memorial Set For June 6-7 at Boothill
Speedway
GREENWOOD, La. (May 31, 2025)—The
Summit USMTS National Championship presented by
RacinDirt roars into the Boothill Speedway for the 19th
Annual Doug Murphrey Memorial on Friday and Saturday,
June 6-7.
This career-making high-speed event,
co-sanctioned by the USRA American Racer Modified Series
presented by Day Motor Sports, promises two nights of
thrilling dirt track racing on the 3/8-mile high-banked
dirt oval in Greenwood, La.
Sponsored by Joel’s
Auto Sales, Murphrey Oil Company, Neises Motorsports,
RaceON and RacinDirt, the Doug Murphrey Memorial honors
a legacy of fierce competition. Past winners expected to
return to the battlefield include multi-time champion
Chris Henigan of Marshall, Texas; two-time winner Terry
Phillips of Springfield, Mo.; four-time USMTS national
champ Jason Hughes of Westville, Okla.; and five-time
USMTS national champion Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas.
Hughes, a two-time USMTS feature winner at Boothill
Speedway, and Sanders, victor in 2020, headline a
storied list of competitors. The last three USMTS events
at Boothill were rained out, heightening anticipation
for this year’s showdown.
Practice for all
classes kicks off Thursday, June 5, with racing action
on both Friday and Saturday streamed live, every lap, in
every class, at

Rules and
Procedures: USMTS rules apply. Drivers draw for
qualifying spots before the drivers’ meeting. Qualifying
proceeds via group qualifying, heat race passing points
and B-Mains. Typically, the top 12 or 16 in heat race
passing points advance to the A-Main, with the top 8
redrawing for positions 1-8. Remaining spots are
heads-up by points, with additional starters via
B-Main(s) and/or provisional(s). RACEceivers and AMB
transponders, mandatory, are available for rent. USMTS
licenses: $100 for the weekend, $500 for the season.
