Sanders Nabs Norfolk's Nebraska Nationals


NORFOLK, Neb. (June 18, 2025)—On Wednesday night, fans at the Inaugural Nebraska Nationals at Off Road Speedway saw Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, dominate the main event for the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.

Sanders took control on lap eight from early leader Gary Christian of Broken Bow, Okla., and held off a competitive field to secure the win in 11 minutes, 24.5 seconds with a 3.306-second margin of victory.

Leading 28 of 35 laps to claim the victory, Sanders pocketed $3,000 while notching his 126th career USMTS win.

Christian finished second, followed by Joe Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, in third. Chisholm led Hodges Farms & Dredging Qualifying to get the program started, and nabbed Simpson Race Products Heat Race #1.

Tanner Mullens of Wichita, Kan., took fourth, and Tyler Davis of Haysville, Kan., rounded out the top five.

Trevor Hughes of Westville, Okla., wound up sixth; defending USMTS national champ Jim Chisholm, Osage, Iowa, was seventh, and Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., earned an eighth-place paycheck.

Kyle Strickler Mooresville, N.C., who suffered a heat race setback after a technical disqualification, claimed the FK Rod Ends Hard Charger Award after advancing from 16th to ninth. Matthew Day of Farmersville, Texas, rounded out the top 1ten.

The series continues Friday and Saturday, June 20-21, at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas’ for the 12th Annual Amarillo Ambush presented by B&J Welding and Walkcon Const. Each night’s feature pays $5,000 to win.
