Lucas Oil
Speedway Plays Host to USMTS Aug. 1-2
WHEATLAND, Mo. (July 28, 2025)
On the dirt this
Friday and Saturday at the Lucas Oil Speedway it's the
16th annual USMTS Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout presented
by Foley Equipment, bringing the stars of the Summit
USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt for
back-to-back nights of racing.
The USMTS Show-Me
Shootout has become one of the highlight events of the
schedule over the years, expanding to a two-day event in
2024 when Jim Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, swept both
features. Chisholm, the reigning series champion,
returns and is giving chase to five-time USMTS king
Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas.
Seeking his sixth
USMTS National Championship in 13 seasons with five wins
in 21 starts this season, Sanders leads Chisholm by 141
points. Chisholm has four feature wins in 2025. Tanner
Mullens of Wichita, Kan., is third in the championship
chase, 142 behind the leader with top USMTS Grant
Jughans Rookie of the Year contender Joe Chisholm, also
of Osage, Iowa, 255 in back of Sanders.
Kyle
Strickler of Mooresville, N.C., is fifth in points with
Terry Phillips of Springfield sixth. Mullens picked up
the last USMTS victory, leading all 40 laps July 20 to
win the 5th annual Mod Wars finale at Granite City Motor
Park in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
The USMTS feature each
night will pay $5,000 to the winner, with $600 to start
Friday night and $800 to start Saturday at the "Diamond
of Dirt Tracks."
Two divisions of the Summit USRA
Weekly Racing Series are also scheduled. The USRA Stock
Cars and USRA B-Mods and will be running for $500 to win
Friday and $750 to win on Saturday. The Hermitage Lumber
Late Models will also be in action both nights.
Motorsports fans can combine two forms of racing as
action is set for both the dirt track and drag boat
facility next door. During the day time it's the KDBA
Summer Shootout on Lake Lucas with qualifying rounds on
Friday and eliminations on Saturday. Fans can opt to
purchase a two-day pass that includes admission to all
the action, single-day tickets for both or single-day
tickets for one or the other.
