Schedule
Complete, New Website Launched for Heartland
Modified Tour
Since announcing the newly-formed Heartland Modified
Tour for USRA Modifieds at the end of November, the
phone lines have been busy for series officials
scheduling races and answering questions about the
start-up regional series.
Featuring a
22-night slate for its inaugural season, the
Heartland Modified Tour is ready to take flight in
2024.
Kicking the season off April 12-13
alongside the Battle at the Bullring B-Mod event at
the Humboldt Speedway in Humbolt, Kan., the
Heartland Modified Tour schedule features 11 pairs
of Friday-Saturday events.
Featuring stops at
81 Speedway, Creek County Speedway, Midway Speedway
and Lucas Oil Speedway, series regulars will be
tested early racing three weekends in a row during
the month of May.
That three-week stretch
comes to an end with a marquee event for the
Heartland Modified Tour. The 2024 edition of Joe
Duvall’s Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk
Extravaganza features a head-to-head affair with the
American Racer USRA Modified Series and the stars of
each eyeing regional touring supremacy.
This
year’s event expands to two nights taking place on
Memorial Day Weekend. Friday, May 24, will be at the
Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Okla., and Saturday,
May 25, at the Salina Highbanks Speedway near
Salina, Okla.
Two weekends grace the month of
June, while things slow down during the heat of the
summer with one weekend each in July and August.
September hosts a pair of race weekends, and the
series completes its rookie season in the Kansas
City area at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley,
Mo., on Oct. 18, and I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo.,
on Oct. 19.
“We are so thankful for all the
support we have received for this new venture,”
commented series co-founder Trenton Berry. “We’re
blessed to work with awesome track promotors who
have decided to take a chance on us, we have great
marketing partners who have stepped up and we have
had several positive conversations from teams
looking at what we have to offer. Erick Chesterman
has worked his tail off to develop the structure for
the series and get these races booked. Austin and I
are proud he’s a part of this too.”
A couple
of drivers who have made early commitments got a
sneak peek at the schedule.
“We’re really
excited for the Heartland Modified Tour,” said Tad
Davis, the 2022 track champion at the 81 Speedway
and Humboldt Speedway. “It’s a great opportunity for
USRA Modified racing in the Midwest with a diverse
schedule that will bring some tough competition each
night.”
The Heartland Modified Tour has also
caught the attention of fan favorite and perineal
USRA Modified contender Chad Wheeler of Muskogee,
Okla.
“We plan on trying to follow most of
the Heartland Modified Tour," Wheeler said. "Having
two babies under three years old at home will make
it tough for us to make the entire schedule, but we
will try our best if possible... Can’t guarantee
anything—family comes first—but we’re going to leave
our mark regardless. We’re excited to have this new
series right in our backyard.”

only is the new schedule complete, but the new
