Peters Picks Up ASCS Northern Plains Win at I-90
Lonnie Wheatley, HARTFORD, S.D. (July 25, 2008) – Jake Peters picked off his first win of the 2008 season by wiring the field in Friday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region feature event at I-90 Speedway.
Peters fended off Eric Lutz in the early stages and then held off Jack Dover over the final rounds to post the win in the Weseman-powered Folkens Brothers Trucking No. 57x Schnee.
While Peters nabbed his second career ASCS Northern Plains win, Dover was gunning for a fourth consecutive ASCS Regional victory. But after getting around Lutz for second on the 15th lap and then closing in on the leader, Dover settled for runner-up honors at the line.
Jody Rosenboom took over the third position with a handful of laps remaining, with Lutz settling for fourth. Gordy Vogelaar rounded out the top five, with Austin McCarl in sixth. Gregg Bakker turned in the feature's top passing effort by racing from 17th to seventh, with Clint Garner, Donovan Peterson and Johnn Cressman completing the top ten.
Mark Toews, Rosenboom, Dover and McCarl each captured heat race wins, with Bakker topping the "B" Main.
