Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 26, 2008) – The American Sprint Car Series Northwest Region fires back to action this Sunday night as a featured portion of Grays Harbor Raceway Park's Big 'E' Weekend in Elma, WA.
With eight ASCS Northwest Region events in the books, Jared Ridge of Snohomish, WA, holds the lead in the series inaugural championship points chase.
Ridge enters the weekend with a 32-point advantage over Bellingham's Brock Lemley and Marysville's Jayme Barnes, who are tied for second.
Medford, Oregon's Roger Crockett has climbed back up to fourth in ASCS Northwest points after a dominant Speedweek performance, with Shelton's Jay Cole rounding out the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Northwest Region points includes Seth Bergman (Snohomish), Jared Peterson (Stanwood), Rob Held (Sutherlin, OR), Mike Melwicks (Richmond, BC) and Travis Rutz (Monroe, WA).
Sunday's action at Grays Harbor Raceway Park is set to get under way at 6:30 p.m.
Elma, Washington's Grays Harbor Raceway Park is located 21 miles west of US 101 on SR 8 to the junction of US 12, then 0.2 miles north, then 0.6 miles east on Elma-McCleary Road. For more information, contact the track at 360-482-4374.
The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
