Crockett Picks Up Another

ASCS Northwest Win in Elma

 

Craig Murphy, ELMA, Wash. (August 31, 2008) – Roger Crockett continues to sizzle.  The ASCS Northwest Region returned to action Sunday night at Grays Harbor Raceway with a familiar sight: Crockett in victory lane.

 

The American Sprint Car Series Northwest Region event highlighted the second night of the ‘Big E’ weekend in Elma.

 

Crockett dominated July’s ASCS-sanctioned Northwest Speedweek, winning four times in six nights, including the Evergreen State Sprint Challenge in Elma.

 

Crockett took the lead from Jayme Barnes on lap 18 of the 30-lap feature at the 3/8-mile clay oval Sunday, and took the win over Danny Lasoski, Barnes, Rick Fauver and Jared Ridge.

 

Crockett started sixth, and held off a hard-charging Lasoski in the closing laps. Prior to Crockett taking over, there were five lead changes in the first five laps of the event.

 

The four heat races were won by Barnes, Shawn Rice, Fauver and Seth Bergman.

 

The B-Main was won by Brock Lemley, in a race stopped when Rob Held took a hard lick in turn three. Held was reported to be okay, but action was delayed while the fence was repaired.

 

There were 29 cars signed in on the night.

 

ASCS Northwest Region teams return to Elma Sept. 19-20 to compete in the second annual Fred Brownfield Memorial, named for the late GHR promoter. The series wraps up its 2008 campaign Sept. 26-27 at the Yakima Dirt Track in Yakima, Wash.
