Late-Season Triple In Store
for ASCS Patriots
Rich Vleck,
TULSA, Okla. (August 18, 2008)- What was originally scheduled to be
a single event weekend for the ASCS Patriots has now turned into the
only three-race weekend on the 2008 tour.
Stateline
Speedway
was the final
full-points race to be added to the schedule this year. After a
rainout halfway through in June, they will now be one of just six
tracks to host multiple races.
The feature event
that was washed out on June 21 will be made up at the beginning of
Saturday Night’s program just south of Jamestown, NY. After that
25-lap event is run, an entirely new event will be run that will be
open to any competitors.
The second
feature expects to have a number of participants that did not endure
the thunderstorm that hit the speedway two months earlier. Look for
a number of Canadian competitors to get in on the fun as a Canadian
Cash bonus has been posted for the top-four finishers from the
North.
The night of
racing will include three National Parts Peddler Heats, the
Bonnell’s Collision Center Four Laps of Fame Dash and the two 25-lap
feature events.
Chuck Hebing
appeared to be the quickest back in June, but he will have to chase
down Jared Zimbardi and Don Adamczyk who find them on the front row
of the feature.
Stateline is well
known for losing moisture by feature time, but with this event being
run at 7:00 p.m., just after sprint car hot laps, it may produce an
unlikely winner in Victory Lane.
The 1/3-mile
facility played host to the first Patriot race in 2003 and will now
start the second centennial of races in the history of the series.
Fans will be
treated to two features for one low price helping to make this a
can’t-miss event. Gates will open before 5:30 p.m. with the racing
getting underway at 7:00 p.m.

Humberstone
Speedway will complete the weekend for their annual late-August
event for the ASCS Patriots. This Sunday Night staple of
Southern Ontario hosted one of the most exhilarating events of
2007 and hopes to duplicate it one year later.
Chris
Muhleisen reeled in Chuck Hebing late in the 25-lap feature and
seemed poised to pull off the upset, but as his No. 10M made a
bid for the lead, his brake rotor exploded, slipping him back to
a third-place finish. The Arkport, NY driver, who is currently
third in points, won the inaugural Patriot event in Port
Colborne, Ontario in 2003 when the track was still known as
Gasport International Speedway.
Bryan Howland
was fastest early in the night last season, but struggled to
continue that into the feature. The Auburn, NY driver is the
current points leader and will look to strengthen his advantage
over Jared Zimbardi of Little Valley, NY.
Humberstone
ran their second season of bi-weekly sprint cars this year, with
Rob Pietz repeating as champion. The driver who lives within an
earshot of the 1/3-mile oval will lead a healthy contingent of
Canadians that will attempt to protect their territory. Stan
Zanchin, Kevin Job, Glenn Styres, Keith Dempster, John Burbridge
Sr and Jr, Mikey Kruchka, Tim Zack, Jay Pietz and Jim Price are
among some of the other Southern Ontario names expect to factor
in.
