Tiffany Tames ASCS Rebelsat Swainsboro!
Lonnie Wheatley, SWAINSBORO, Ga. (June 21, 2008) – Matt Tiffany tallied his first American Sprint Car Series Rebel Region win of the year with a hard-fought victory over current series points leader Kenny Adams in Saturday night's 25-lap feature at Swainsboro Raceway.
The 19-year-old Daytona Beach shoe wrestled the lead back away from Adams on the 23rd lap en route to capturing his second career ASCS Regional win aboard the Don Ott-powered Independent Printing No. 19T Shaw.
After Samantha Taylor led the opening round, Tiffany surged into the lead. But Matt Kurtz overtook Tiffany by the sixth round and set the pace for the next nine circuits before Tiffany raced back in front.
After the yellow flew after 20 laps for Kurtz, who stopped with a flat front tire, Adams battled past Tiffany for the point on the 22nd lap as he rebounded from an opening lap tangle that sent him to the tail of the field.
Tiffany answered by recapturing the lead the next time around and held on the rest of the way, with Adams settling for runner-up honors. Gavin Thomas, also involved in the opening lap fracas, took third away from Taylor on the final lap. Taylor settled for fourth, with Michael Miller rounding out the top five.
Kurtz and Miller topped heat race action.
