![]() Zeihl Tops ASCS Regional Clash Opener at Aztec
Lonnie Wheatley, AZTEC, N.M. (June 4, 2010) – Rick Ziehl picked off
his second American Sprint Car Series Regional win of the year by
topping Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Rocky Mountain vs. ASCS Southwest
main event at Aztec Speedway.
Hailing from Las Cruces, NM, the two-time and reigning ASCS
Southwest champion outlasted 15-year-old Tijeras, NM, racer Joshua
Hodges for top honors on the opening leg of the two-night Aztec
stand.
Hodges paced the opening eight circuits from the pole position
before Ziehl took command.
The pair dueled in the ensuing laps before Ziehl put the win away
aboard the Lucas Oil/Bry Hayes Motorsports No. 20z Maxim.
Hodges settled for runner-up honors, with Patrick Bourke, Bud
Goodwin and Josh Grady rounding out the top five.
John Gaston was sixth, with Calvin Landis, J.T. Imperial, Bob
Schaeffer and Jesse Baker completing the top ten.
Hodges, Schaeffer and Ziehl topped Friday night’s heat race action.
