Herrera Tops ASCS Rocky Mountain Region

at Hollywood Hills

 

Lonnie Wheatley, ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (August 15, 2008) – Johnny Herrera remained perfect in his 2008 American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region appearances by winning Friday night's 25-lap feature at Hollywood Hills Speedway.

 

Despite starting five rows deep, Herrera still needed just a handful of laps to chase down early pace setter and current series point leader Derrik Ortega for the point.

 

Herrera led the rest of the way with Ortega, Chad Corken, James High and Colt Treharn rounding out the top five.

 

Kaylene Verville, Scott Box, Bud Goodwinn and Chuck Jackson topped heat race action for the 33-car field, with Jody Williams winning the 12-lap "B" Main after early leader Shawn Sander ran into trouble in lapped traffic.
