Ramaker Finds Casper Friendly withASCS Rocky Mountain Region WinLonnie Wheatley, CASPER, Wyo. (August 22, 2008) – Joe Ramaker captured his fourth career American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region feature win by surviving Friday night's calamitous 20-lap main event at Casper Speedway.
After originally gridding the feature field outside the fourth row, Ramaker took the lead away from Jeremy McCune on the fourth round and ultimately lapped up to fourth place in his torrid pace to victory lane.
Ramaker beat current series points leader Derrik Ortega to the checkered flag, with Colt Treharn and Dustin Hall the final cars on the lead lap. McCune, the first car one lap down, rounded out the top five.
It took several tries to get the feature under way, with the second try resulting in five cars getting upside down. Those overturned included Ortega, Brett Ream, Chuck Jackson, Dustin Hall and Mike Posey. Ortega rebounded from that as well as involvement in another five-car tangle two laps later to post runner-up honors.
Entering the night as Ortega's chief challenger in the championship points race, Chad Corken bicycled in turn three and vaulted out of the park during heat race action. Corken walked away from his destroyed mount uninjured but done for the night.
Treharn, McCune and Bob Schaeffer topped heat race action with Kass Cornella winning the "B" Main.
