Tarlton Seeks ASCS SoCal Three-peat
Saturday at Santa Maria!
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 2, 2011) – Tommy Tarlton will
be looking for an ASCS Southern California three-peat when the
series takes to the third different racetrack in as many
Saturdays this coming weekend.
This Saturday night, the ASCS Southern California Region makes
its lone scheduled stop of the year at the semi-banked, 1/3-mile
Santa Maria Speedway clay oval.
Making a strong case for becoming the first ASCS champion in
California, Fresno’s Tarlton topped the inaugural series event
at Hanford’s Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway on April 23 and then
backed that up with another win at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway
just seven nights later.
Vying for a third win at a third track this Saturday night,
Tarlton carries a 30-point advantage over Cory Eliason in the
championship chase, with Ronnie Day, Trey Starks and Steven Kent
the rest of the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten in ASCS SoCal points includes
Mike Faria, Nick Green, Eric Humphries, Nick McColloch and Andy
Saturday’s action at Santa Maria Speedway is set to go green at
Santa Maria Speedway is located off US 101 to SR 166-E exit,
then west to frontage road, then north.

The inaugural slate of ASCS Southern California action includes
a dozen nights of winged Sprint Car competition at four tracks
including Kings Speedway, Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway, Santa
Maria Speedway and Bakersfield Speedway.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning
Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with
approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the
nation and into Canada.
