Jason Johnson Shuts Down ASCS Sooners at
Outlaw Motor Speedway
Lonnie Wheatley, MUSKOGEE, Okla. (May 7, 2010) – Louisiana’s Jason
Johnson added another notch to the victory column by topping Friday
night’s 25-lap American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region debut at
Outlaw Motor Speedway.
The Lucas Oil ASCS National title contender tuned up for the
upcoming June 4 National event atop the 3/8-mile clay oval by racing
from four rows deep in just three laps to take his third Regional
score of the year aboard the Don Ott-powered Haynes/Pope
Transportation No. 41 Maxim.
After starting seventh, “The Ragin’ Cajun” disposed of pole starter
Robert Sellers on the third round and then motored on to his 75th
career overall ASCS checkered flag in front of Lucas Oil National
nemesis Tony Bruce, Jr., who advanced from eleventh for runner-up
honors.
Danny Wood claimed the show position, with Aaron Berryhill in
fourth. Sean McClelland
charged from 14th to round out the top five, with Sherman
Davis the final car on the lead lap in sixth.
Nick Smith raced from 15th to seventh, with Mike Peters,
Whit Gastineau and reigning Sooner champ Joe Wood, Jr., completing
the top ten.
Johnson, Berryhill, Peters and Sellers topped heat race action for
Friday night’s 33-car field, with Smith and Gastineau winning the
twin “B” Mains.
