Ziehl Tops

ASCS Southwest Region at USA

 

Lonnie Wheatley, TUCSON, Ariz. (September 6, 2008) – New Mexico's Rick Ziehl captured his first American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region feature win of the season by racing to victory lane in Saturday night's 25-lap main event at USA Race Park.

 

Ziehl took the checkered flag in front of Billy Chester III, with Shawn Sander, Brian O'Donnell and Perry McMillin rounding out the top five.

 

Ziehl's score aboard the Performance Engine & Machine Tutco Motorsports No. 33 Buckley proved timely, as he moved atop the championship points race by two markers over Sander after previous points leader Ben Gregg was disqualified for failing post-race technical inspection.

 

Steve Stone, Gregg, Ziehl and Kyle McCutcheon topped heat race action, with John Van Horn winning the "B" Main.
