Motherís Day Race for the Cure Saturday at CSP!

Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (May 2, 2016) Ė Coming off the heels of a rare Arizona rainout, Canyon Speedway gets right back to action this Saturday night with the Sixth Annual Motherís Day Race for the Cure at the 1/3-mile clay oval.

While Super Late Models and the Arizona Differential IMCA Modifieds take center stage on Saturday night, the IMCA Sport Modifieds, Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive IMCA Hobby Stocks vs. Renegades, Western Mod Lites and Power 600 Micro Sprints will be in action as well.

Saturdayís racing action will go green at 7:00 p.m.

With a large turnout of competitors annually for this event climbing to nearly 140 entries last year, Ricky Thornton, Jr., has topped the last three Motherís Day Race for the Cure IMCA Modified feature events.

With Thornton, Jr., racing in the Midwest, the door is opened for a new winner in the IMCA Modified ranks this time around.  Guy Norton topped the most recent action on April 2 to move to within four points of current CSP points leader Zack Madrid.

Though just four points out of the lead, Norton is just third in IMCA Modified points with Mike Strobl a single point off Madridís lead pace going into Saturday night.  Steve Stultz and Nate Warren round out the current top five.

Saturday nightís Motherís Day Race for the Cure event will also mark a rare Super Late Model outing atop the Canyon Speedway Park clay, with Sean Bray outlasting John Cornell and Craig Parker to top the most recent action on March 26.

Jason Crowe is just two points ahead of Jacob Madrid in the Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive Hobby Stocks vs. Renegades points race with Paul OíConnor the latest in a string of four consecutive different winners.

Brenden Priest topped the most recent Mod Lite event at CSP on March 26 while Shon Deskins extended the streak of different Micro Sprint winners to seven in a row with his April 16 score.

With six different winners in as many Power 600 Micro Sprint events thus far, Paul Martin holds a 33-point lead in series points over Tyler Merrill with Ray Herrera, Dale Eliason, Jr., and Jarrett Martin among the current top five.

Tickets for Saturdayís action are just $16, with a $3 discount for Military, Seniors and Students.  Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free.  VIP passes are available for $20.
