Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 31,
2018) – It’s just a few short days away. The
world’s elite in Modified racing will invade the southwest
Kansas town of Dodge City for the first time since 2004.
On Friday night, June 8, the United States
Modified Tour Series (USMTS) take to the 3/8-mile Dodge City
Raceway Park for a $3,000-to-win, $300-to-start tilt that is a
must-see for fans throughout the region.
Along with the world’s premier touring
Modified series, the Friday night event will feature IMCA Sport
Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks as well.
Tucson’s Jake O’Neil currently sits atop
the USMTS National points charts ahead of the Las Cruces, NM,
shoe Johnny Scott, Minnesota’s Lucas Schott, Las Cruces’ Stormy
Scott and Happy, TX, native Rodney Sanders.
Others among the current top ten in USMTS
points include Zack VanderBeek, Dereck Ramirez, Terry Phillips,
Jake Timm and Joe Duvall.
While the race offers up a hefty $3,000
winner’s share, a bonus will be for grabs for those IMCA-legal
Modifieds taking part in the event. The top
finishing IMCA-legal Modified will earn an extra $300, with
another $200 for the second IMCA-legal entry and $100 for the
third IMCA-legal entry.
Pre-entry for the event is $110 with race
day entry of $125. The event will not award
any DCRP track points for IMCA Modifieds.
Championship points will be on the line for the IMCA Sport
Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Tickets for the Friday, June 8, USMTS
event at Dodge City Raceway Park are just $25 for adults for
adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when
accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
In total, the 2018 season at Dodge City
Raceway Park is slated for 17 nights of action, culminating with
the return of the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Saturday
night, October 20.
