The DCRP Title Chases with Midway in Sight!
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 29, 2018) – The championship chases at Dodge City Raceway Park are taking shape.
And Saturday night’s Mid-Season Championships atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas will bring it one step closer to determining who the 2018 track champions will ultimately be.
Saturday’s Mid-Season Championships feature a full card of action including Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
The green flag flies at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Tickets for Saturday’s action are just $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:
The DCRP Sprint Cars have offered up five different winners in as many rounds of competition thus far and will have only four more nights of competition after Saturday’s Mid-Season Championships. Halfway through the chase, opening night winner Brian Herbert holds a 47-point edge over Steven Richardson with Koby Walters one more point back in third. Two-time and defending champ Taylor Velasquez is 51 points off the lead pace with Tyler Knight filling out the current top five.

With just three rounds of action in the books, a mere 27 points separates the top eight ranked drivers with 2016 track champ Nick Link holding a four-point advantage over opening night winner Kevin Gray. Link scored his first DCRP win last time out on May 26.

IMCA Sport Modifieds:
The IMCA Sport Modifieds officially reach the midway point on Saturday night and Woodward, OK, shoe Jeff Kaup holds a 53-point lead on the strength of two wins in five events thus far as he guns for a fifth track championship in the last six years. Currently, Brian May and Bart Baker are the top contenders within reach of unseating the reigning champion.

Troy Burkhardt and defending track champ Angel Munoz lead the way on the win charts with two wins apiece through six nights of competition but it’s Shannon Maughlin leading the title chase with a 25-point advantage over Dusty Witthuhn.

IMCA Hobby Stocks:
It doesn’t get any closer than the Hobby Stock chase with Dan Rogers and defending track champ Reagan Sellard knotted for first atop the point charts. In their wake, Chad Kelley and Brett Copeland enter Saturday’s Mid-Season Championships tied for third. Duane Wahrman has topped three of four features but sits seventh in points after missing that other event entirely.
