Prelude to Mayhem this Saturday at DCRP!

Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 11, 2020) – The momentum towards the upcoming Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals continues to build at Dodge City Dodge City Raceway Park with the Prelude to Mayhem this Saturday night atop the 3/8-mile clay oval.

Saturday’s card that features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks will be the final tuneup for the following weekend’s $1,500-to-win IMCA Sport Modified Mayhem North vs. South Duel that is run in conjunction with the DCRP Sprint Car Nationals.

Saturday’s racing action will go green at 7:30 p.m.

The IMCA Sport Modifieds are one of two divisions with a new points leader, as Kamren Gruber is the third different leader in the last three races.  Gruber takes a one-point advantage over previous leader Mike Lunow into Saturday’s action while Luke Stallbaumer is trying to make his way back to the top at just 13 points out of the lead.

Following Saturday’s action, the IMCA Sport Modifieds will be back in action with the Seventh Annual Sport Modified Mayhem North vs. South Duel in conjunction with the Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals on August 20-22.  Practice for the Sport Mods will take place during the Thursday portion with heats and qualifying features on Friday and then the “B” and “A” Main Mayhem events on Saturday.

While Gruber has assumed command of the IMCA Sport Modified points lead, the IMCA Stock Cars have a new leader as well with Chris Oliver taking over the top spot.  Oliver took advantage of Troy Burkhart’s misfortune this past Saturday night to take a ten-point advantage with Jeff Kaup another seven points back in third.

Dakota Sproul padded his advantage in the IMCA Modified ranks with his third win in five tries while Tathan Burkhart extended his IMCA Hobby Stock lead as well by becoming the first repeat winner of the season.

General admission tickets for Saturday’s Prelude to Mayhem card are just $12 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.

In total, the 2020 season atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval is slated for a dozen nights of action along with another six Sunday cards atop the 1/7-mile Little DCRP clay oval.
