Lonnie
Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (March 29, 2018) –
Kyle Bellm is set to kick
off the 2018 season in grand style by making a run for this
weekend’s $13,000 NCRA Sprint Car winner’s share at 81
Speedway’s “Air Capital Shootout” near Wichita, KS, aboard the
Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded No. 14k Sprint Car.
Following a Thursday night practice session, the Friday-Saturday
double atop the 3/8-mile clay oval will mark Bellm’s third “Air
Capital Shootout” event with a strong sixth-place finish in his
most recent outing in 2014.
“We’re
excited for Wichita, we’re looking forward to getting the season
going,” the pilot of the Kannady Racing Engines-powered
Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry
commented. “We’ve been pretty good there so
we’re looking for a couple of solid nights to start the year.”
Coming
off a strong 2017 season that included a handful of wins and 17
top-five finishes, this weekend begins a slate of approximately
50 events over the course of the season for the PPG Automotive
Finishes/Colorvision Sprint Car team.
“We’re
not going to chase any points this year, we’re just going to
pick and choose our races,” Bellm explains.
“Between the National races in the area along with the Regional
races and weekly shows at Lake Ozark, there are a lot of good
paying races within several hours of home.”
It will
lead to a busy season of racing action throughout Missouri and
surrounding states for the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built
Suspensions/Schaeffers Racing Oil entry with an ASCS Warrior
Region outing at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway on April 14
next on the docket after this weekend’s action.
The team
does however find itself entering the 2018 season minus a
primary sponsor.
“We
appreciate the support that Resource Asset Management Solutions
(RAMS) gave us over the past two years and everything that they
did to help build this team,” Bellm says.
“Hopefully we can find another major partner that can help us
continue to improve the team along with the group of marketing
partners that we already have in place.”
This
weekend’s racing action at 81 Speedway fires off at 7:00 p.m. on
Friday night and then 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
