Cannon McIntosh Takes on USAC & POWRi in Illinois this Weekend after Pair of POWRi West Podiums

Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (June 28, 2019) – Cannon McIntosh and the Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 team venture to Illinois this weekend for a pair of events including a NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget card on Saturday and then Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget competition on Sunday.

With the planned Friday Illini triple opener washed out at Jacksonville, the weekend now kicks off with USAC action at Joliet’s Dirt Oval at Route 66 on Saturday before moving on to POWRi action at Lincoln Speedway on Sunday.

While running selected USAC events this season with one win already to his credit, McIntosh has broken into the top ten in points in his first full POWRi National campaign.

“We just want to try to be consistent every time out and hopefully come away with a win or two along the way,” the 16-year-old from Bixby, OK, commented.

McIntosh goes into the weekend after posting a pair of runner-up finishes in POWRi West League competition last weekend at Creek County Speedway and Port City Raceway.

“I wish we could have had a win instead, but they’re coming,” McIntosh commented.

It was seconds all around for last weekend with a run from fifth to second in heat race action at Creek County Speedway before advancing from fourth to second in the main event.  The following night was similar at Port City Raceway with McIntosh climbing from third to second in heat race action and then sixth to second int the feature.

“Creek County started out pretty dry but they kept working on it and had it pretty good for the feature, I closed in on Tyler (Thomas) for the lead but couldn’t quite get there,” McIntosh explains.  “Then Port City is tight, you can get to other cars but it’s hard to pass them.”

McIntosh will be looking to crack victory lane in Illinois this weekend.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.
