Cannon McIntosh Continues POWRi Chase with Weekend Double

Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (July 3, 2019) – Cannon McIntosh and the Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 team venture into more new territory with another pair of Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League events this weekend in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The weekend gets under way with a Saturday night stop at Illinois’ Fairbury American Legion Speedway before moving on to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin’s Angell Park Speedway on Sunday night.

“I’ve watched videos of both of them and they look they should be fun to race on,” the 16-year-old commented.

McIntosh goes into the weekend after an Illinois double last weekend that wrapped up with another top-ten finish following a night of struggles the previous evening.

After a Jacksonville rainout on Friday, the team took in Saturday’s USAC Midget card at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, IL, on Saturday.  Mechanical issues forced McIntosh to the team’s second car midway through the night.

“We ran the other car in the ‘B’, but we were just buried too deep to get anywhere,” McIntosh explained.

Moving on to POWRi National Midget League action at Illinois’ Lincoln Speedway on Sunday, McIntosh finished second behind Christopher Bell in heat race action and then rounded out the night with a ninth-place feature run.

“The track was pretty slick and everyone was just running right around the bottom,” McIntosh recalls.

McIntosh will look for another pair of strong finishes this weekend before a full slate of five events beginning with the USAC Midgets “Tuesday Night Thunder” at Meeker, Oklahoma’s Red Dirt Raceway on Tuesday.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.
