McIntosh Set for Ironman Weekend at Pevely after another POWRi Podium

Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (August 1, 2019) – Cannon McIntosh has been flirting with Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League victory lane all season.

The 16-year-old and the Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 team look to seal the deal with a triumph at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway’s “Ironman Weekend” in Pevely, MO, on Friday and Saturday.

“That track hasn’t liked me, we’ve been there a couple of times but haven’t got to race because of fuel or engine problems,” McIntosh explains.  “I’m racing it this weekend for sure.”

While McIntosh has flirted with POWRi victory lane, he actually parked it in the lane at Grain Valley on July 12 only to have it stripped away at the scales.

“We were 15 pounds light,” McIntosh said afterward.

This past weekend, McIntosh was within one position again with a runner-up finish at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL, on Friday night.

“Belle-Clair was good, there was a cushion up against the wall to lean on,” McIntosh explains.  “We just kept having cautions every couple of laps so we never got a real chance to chase Tyler (Thomas) down.”

Luck soured when action shifted to Macon Speedway on Saturday night when the steering column snapped just five laps into the feature.

With four top-fives to his credit in POWRi National Midget League action thus far in 2019, McIntosh has climbed to eighth in series points.  He looks to improve those numbers this weekend.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.
