Cannon McIntosh Ready for Illinois Quadruple

Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (August 15, 2019) – Following on the heels of an idle weekend, Cannon McIntosh and the Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 Midget team are back in action with a slate of four races in Illinois this weekend.

The weekend gets off to an early start on Thursday night at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, the first of three Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League events with Lincoln Speedway and Macon Speedway to follow on Friday and Saturday.  McIntosh will round out the weekend with a Sunday night card at Jacksonville Speedway.

While it will be the 16-year-old’s first outing at Fairbury, he has taken in one night of POWRi competition at both Lincoln and Macon while competing on several occasions at Jacksonville.

McIntosh’s most recent action was at Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway on August 2-3.  He raced to a sixth-place finish in the Friday portion and then finished eleventh in the finale after leading much of the way.

“We just took a little too long to get going,” McIntosh said of the sixth-place run on Friday night.

McIntosh had that elusive first POWRi National win in his sites the next night before settling for an 11th-place finish.  “We led the first 20 laps or so, then we just had a bad restart that cost us,” McIntosh explains.

McIntosh has climbed up to seventh in Lucas Oil POWRi National League points with a position among the top five well within reach.  He’ll try to crack the top five as he vies for a first career series win this weekend.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.
