Ready for March Racing Action!
Longdale,
Oklahoma – March 1, 2017 - The 2017 calendar has turned to March
and that means drivers and fans are ready for a third full
season of action-packed dirt track racing to get underway at Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Oklahoma.
And for track
general manager Greg Burgess, that means his second full tenure
at the helm of all racing events from March through October at
the big three-eighths mile oval.
The season will
kick off on Friday night, March 10, with an open practice
session from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. It will be a prelude to the
first point race for the 2017 race season at Longdale Speedway
as drivers competing in the tracks IMCA modified, IMCA sport
mod, IMCA stock cars and pure stock divisions one night later on
Saturday night, March 11. Pit gates for opening night will open
at 4:00 PM with race action slated for a 7:00 PM start time.
The season
opener is the first of 12 rounds under the Longdale Speedway
Racing Series banner. The semi-banked oval will also host a
variety of Top Gun Series races throughout the season. Tickets
are $10 for adults and $8 for military members and seniors.
Children ages 12 and younger get in free. Advanced tickets can
be purchased by visiting http://www.LongdaleSpeedway.net . Fans
who bring a business card and a matching picture ID get in free.
Then two weeks
later on Saturday night, March 25, it will be round two of point
racing at the speedway and “First Responders Night at the Races”
where all members of law enforcement, EMT’s, emergency
management as well as search and rescue will be admitted into
the grandstands for free!

A special look
ahead:
The first
special event for 2017 will take place on Saturday night, April
1, as the popular open-wheeled sprint cars will make their only
scheduled appearance for the season featuring the Sprint Series
of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series as well as the
Kansas-based United Rebel Sprint Series. Last year saw Kansas
driver Luke Cranston get the best of a twenty-six-car field to
take the victory under the URSS banner.
NASCAR night
will hit the speedway on Wednesday night, May 3, with NASCAR
stars Kenny Wallace, Kenny Schrader and Tony Stewart making an
appearance and compete against the track regulars.
