Annual “Santa Shootout” for Karts Fast Approaching!
Geary, Oklahoma – November 26, 2017 -
After a very successful winter season opener one week ago, the
Midwest Winter Race Series will host event number two on the
2017-2018 race season on Friday and Saturday, December 8-9, 2017
at the Young County Arena in Graham, Texas.
The annual “Santa Shootout” kart race
was created back in 2006 to give go-kart racers and their
families an opportunity to compete during the normal
“off-season” while providing them an exciting indoor race that
few, at the time, had ever experienced. In fact, at the time of
it’s inception, it was known as one of the few indoor karting
events held anywhere in the nation.
That first event back in 2006 had
eighty entries, which were considered large at that time. Last
years (2016) entry numbers hit 210. This event paved the way for
Texas indoor racing and in 2013 became a part of the MWRS. This
series includes four stops in Texas and one in Oklahoma with
drivers from across the United States participating.
Points are accumulated throughout the
series with a cash payout and championship awarded at the end of
the year but each event awards trophies to the top three
finishers in each class. Over one hundred entries filled the
indoor arena in Wichita Falls, Texas last weekend.
Classes include the following: Young Guns Beginner; 3.5
H.P. beginner; 6.5 Pure Stock Intek; Jr. 1, 2 and 3 Clone; 125,
250 and Open Outlaw, Stock Animal Gold; Stock, Modified and Flat
Stock Animal; Flat RWYS; Flat Stock Medium Flathead; Flat Adult
Clone; Drift Ring Flat and Clone Modified.
Other “MUSTS” for all kart racers:
All karts must run a muffler. This is mandatory
No fuel additives allowed in all classes
Stock muffler on all stock classes
Mod muffler on all mod classes and the RVL is a
recommended one.
Official rules and format for this indoor event can be
found at
http://santashootout.com. There you will be able to
pre-enter for this event. You can also obtain official rules by

There will be no time trials for this two-day event and
a two-heat race format will be utilized. The event schedule goes
as the following:
Friday (December 8) – Hot laps at 3:00 PM with racing
slated for a 6:00 PM start time
Saturday (December 9) – Heat races at 10:30 AM and
features at 3:30 PM.
The Young County Arena is located at 120 Barclay Blvd
in downtown Graham. You can find out more about this indoor

This will be race number two for the MWRS as the first
was held last weekend in Wichita Falls, Texas. Other Midwest
Winter Race Series events are the “Red River Showdown” in
Duncan, Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday, January 19-20, 2018;
