BROCK'S PERFORMANCE
ELITE DRAGRACING TEAM
REVVED UP FOR ATLANTA
NATIONAL
DAYTON, Ohio. (April 8,
2010) - Hot off a trio of
wins at AMA Dragbike's
season opener, the Brock's
Performance Elite Dragracing
Team comes into this
weekend's second round--the
Elmer Trett Nationals, at
Atlanta Dragway--geared up
for more success.
Rickey Gadson, a nine-time
national champ who won the
2009 SuperSport title, heads
up this uniquely experienced
four-man team. He's
competing this year in the
Real Street - Presented by
BST class for 2010 on a
Brock's
Performance-sponsored
Kawasaki ZX-14. With this
show-quality machine,
equipped with Brock's
patented TiWinder exhaust
and BST carbon-fiber-wheels,
Gadson qualified second at
the season-opener before
scoring a victory over Mark
Billiter with an 8.104 sec.,
177.42 mph run through the
quarter.
In SuperSport, Joey
Gladstone, who won three of
eight races in the 2009
title chase and was voted
"Most Likely to Succeed" by
his peers, picked up where
Gadson left off last
year-with a win. Racing a
Brock's
Performance-sponsored Suzuki
GSX-R1000 with an
stainless-steel ShortMeg
pipe, Gladstone qualified in
the number-two position,
took two holeshot-fueled
victories in the
eliminations and dropped
Jeremy Teasley in the final
round with an 8.994 sec.,
158.17 mph pass.
Gadson's protégé and nephew,
Richard, took a resounding
win in Sunday's Street ET -
Presented by Brock's
Performance class on his
uncle's Gadson
Racing/Brock's
Performance-sponsored ZX-14
and its green-anodized, CT
Megaphone exhaust, with his
near-perfect 8.954 sec. pass
at 158.19 mph. He also
qualified fourth in
SuperSport, but was outrun
by teammate Gladstone in
second-round action.
Anchoring the Brock's
Performance Elite Dragracing
Team this year is Mike
"Anything But" Slowe, the
2009 Pro Street champion. In
his first title defense
appearance, Slowe struggled
to ninth-fastest in the
March event's qualifying on
a BST-shod, Playthings
Racing Suzuki Hayabusa, then
laid down quicker and faster
numbers than his opponent in
the first round of
eliminations. Unfortunately,
Slowe's sluggish reaction
time (due to clutch
problems) negated his strong
7.306 sec., 201.34 mph run.
For Atlanta, the bike was
stripped, modified and
rebuilt to cure its ills. In
Atlanta, Slowe is set to
display the form that made
him a champion.
Brock's Performance
president and former
AMA/Prostar Superbike
Champion Brock Davidson is
thrilled with his elite team
of pavement pounders. "We
enlist the most talented,
consistent riders and
dedicated tuners with a team
mentality," he says. "Their
consistent feedback and
stunning race results allow
us to continue bringing 25
years of sportbike racing
knowledge to everyday
riders. I look forward to
seeing all of our riders in
the winner's circle
throughout the 2010 season."
Supporting the sport in
2010, Brock's Performance
has posted $66,020 in
contingency dollars-more
than any aftermarket company
in AMA dragracing history
and a 79 percent increase
over its 2008 commitment.
This doubles the size of the
2009 program for competitors
using Brock's Performance
exhaust systems and BST
carbon-fiber wheels. The
record-shattering
contingency program is
highlighted by
$300-per-class win bonuses
for Pro Mod and Pro Street
racers and an average of
$8253 per event for all
classes.
