Statement Effort by the
Red Riders Headlines 50th
Anniversary Opener
|
|
The anticipated start of
the 50th Anniversary of
the Lucas Oil Pro
Motocross Championship,
sanctioned by AMA Pro
Racing, lived up to the
excitement surrounding
this landmark summer
season. On an afternoon
in which the
manufacturer served as
title sponsor of the
Honda Fox Raceway I
National, the "Red
Riders" made a major
statement in one of the
most dominant efforts by
a single team in series
history, as Team Honda
HRC riders finished 1-2
in both classes.
|
|
Both motos of the 450
Class saw the Honda duo
of Chase Sexton and Ken
Roczen duke it out for
victory, with the German
veteran controlling the
first half of each race
before his up-and-coming
teammate came on strong
in the closing stages to
seize control and secure
the first 1-1
performance of his young
career. It marked the
third career win for
Sexton and his second at
Fox Raceway.

The first step of Jett
Lawrence's title defense
in the 250 Class
couldn't have started
any better. The young
Australian was the class
of the field all
afternoon and took full
advantage of a pair of
strong starts to take
an early lead and
control both races with
ease. The performance
extended Lawrence's
undefeated streak at Fox
Raceway, where he's now
won four times, and was
made even more memorable
thanks to a runner-up
effort by Hunter
Lawrence to give the
siblings their first 1-2
result.
